The Gentleman Jack Tour Weekend – A Sapphic literary getaway inspired by the diaries of Anne Lister

Earlier this year the incredible TV series Gentleman Jack was brought to our screens by HBO and BBC one. Set in Halifax and York, the show explored the life of Victorian lesbian Anne Lister. Now, Diva Destinations, a travel company for lesbian women gives you a chance to explore the world that filled the pages of the Diaries that Anne Lister kept.

The vacation takes place over the weekend of the 25th – 27th October and features aspects of both the diaries by Anne Lister and the Gentleman Jack television series. There is a walking tour of Halifax that takes you in the footsteps of Anne Lister. Holiday goers will be able to visit Bankfield Museum to take a closer look at the amazing costumes from the show created by film production designer, Tom Pye. As the weekend progresses you will be able to see inside the historical house she once made her home. There will also be a chance to visit film locations along with Anne’s school and Assembly rooms.

The highlight of this weekend is the exclusive talk given by Helena Whitbread, historian and decoder of Anne Lister diaries. Learn how she discovered the diaries and the way she was able to decode their cryptic content. It is because of Helena’s work we have all been enthralled by the incredible story of Anne’s life, beautifully brought to the small screen in the TV series Gentleman Jack.

Diva Destination offer plenty of tour options. You could book to go only on the walking tour, stay one night or enjoy the entire weekend. Couples, groups and solo travellers are all welcome. Diva Destination holidays are not just about the tour but they also create vacations where women can form friendship and make memories.

Prices start @ £129 per person for The Gentleman Jack Tour and as the first weekend has now sold out (18th – 20th October) you better get a move on if you want to book.
